Completely sealed in on all sides, this traditional straight out and back links has held up to all improvements and technological wizadry with ease. This Championship jewel is over 100 years old and only relents a score to the very best. Past Open winners such as Ballesteros, Bobby Jones, Gary Player and |
more recently Tom Lehman and David Duval.
Unusually Lytham opens with a Par 3 and the immediate holes that follow have a railway out of bounds running all along the right side. So from the outset i's all guns blazing, it will not allow you to relax into a round. The usual mixture of 6 hard, 6 medium and 6 soft holes does not appear to be evident. What you get is one of the largest collections of tough bunkering, natural dunes, often howling winds to keep you honest resulting in a historical golfing walk that’s best summed up as one of the most unique links experiences available.

Description |
The choice of courses in England is almost endless for the discerning golf visitor. There are mighty seaside links such as those of Royal Liverpool Golf Club at Hoylake, where the Amateur Championship was born and where Bobby Jones won the Open Championship in his historic Grand Slam year of 1930. There is plenty of historic interest in English golf, with the oldest existing course in England and Westward Ho in Devon. The club was formed there in 1864 and today sheep continue to grace the ancient links on this common land. |
