The K-Club is renowned for the extremely luxurious, AA 5 red star, classically styled hotel and the championship golf course designed by Arnold Palmer, which hosted the Ryder Cup in 2006 and also hosts the Smurfit European Open every year. The origins of the estate date back as far as 550 AD but the magnificent main building, Straffan House, was built in the 1830’s when the Barton wine family giving it a distinctively French elegance. Over $45 million was spent on developing the K-Club and further investment has been made recently through the addition of an additional wing.
There are four excellent restaurants to choose between, giving you the option of fine Irish cuisine in the Byerley Turk Restaurant, Asian cuisine from the Oriental Restaurant, elegant brassiere style dining in the River Room restaurant or views over the Palmer course in the Legends bar and restaurant.
Although the Hotel is most famous for its golf, they also offer river fishing for salmon and trout and coarse fishing with a choice of 5 stocked lakes.
