Old Tom Morris believed that Machrihanish was designed by the almighty for playing golf. Then again Old Tom must have been his accomplice as he was very much involved in the design of this classic links situated on the tip of the Mull of Kintyre. |
If it were not for its isolated position Machrihanish would have hosted major championships. The first hole is one of the finest anywhere in the world, a dogleg par 4 called Battery and not unreasonably, has been described as the premier opening hole in Scotland.
