Balgownie Links was founded as the Society of Golfers at Aberdeen in 1780 and is recognised as the 6th oldest golf club in the world.
It’s interesting to note that the 5 minute rule for searching for a lost ball originated here. |
The layout is set in the classical out and back format, with the first nine on this championship Scottish links being one of the best in the world. Fast rolling fairways with a mix of heathland and marram grass outward with thick gorse and heather homebound leaving little room for the errant shot. No two holes are the same except for the common thread of beautiful seaside views.
36th in the Top 100 Courses in the British Isles 2002. |
