The first Open was played here in 1923 and since then has woven itself into the very fabric of Scottish golf. Tranquil views over the Firth of Clyde leading south to the Ailsa Craig, this beauty disguises probably the toughest Open venue of them all. |
The links contains one of the longest Par 5’s on the Open rota. Its signature hole is the 8th, The Postage Stamp, the shortest on the Open rota. Most of the holes will test your game physically and mentally with consistent play required and no favours given.
Portland Course
This is a more sheltered and shorter links course than its Old Course brother. Heavily protected with gorse with 5 Par 3’s and four Par 5’s it offers a very enjoyable alternative to the championship venue.
